Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club Reception
Today we attended the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club Reception at the National Arts Club in New York City. My painting, "Consider the Peony", was accepted into the artwork to be displayed at the gathering. The CLWAC Reception was well attended, with liens of people waiting to enter. The donations for the evening were designated to benefit the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Lining the walls were over 200 beautiful paintings, with sculptures on the lower level. There was a long table with hors d'oeuvres and wine where most guests initially seemed to congregate. Midway through the evening, the President of CLWAC Gail Snow Gibbs spoke, as well as a director from the Met. CLWAC is a supporter of the Met, providing a grant for museum staff to travel throughout the USA while attempting to acquire paintings and other creative works from American artists. Among other conversations, we talked a bit with Jill Banks and her husband (another artist and a juror for the show) about the importance of what makes a good image for entering the competition. It's always fun and exciting for me, as an artist, to meet with other art-lovers from around the USA! You can read more about the experience on the Merrimack Valley Artisan's blog, by clicking here. Several photos from the reception at this elegant venue are below. The details for the CLWAC exhibition at the National Arts Club are at the bottom of this post.
