Hi! I’m Janet Clingerman Hsiao, a passionate artist, dedicated homemaker, and culinary perfectionist.
The beauty of the New England countryside and seashore is the inspiration for my artwork – ocean scenes, flowers, and landscapes. I am especially drawn to the majesty and peace of the ocean. During each visit, I see changes in the color of the sea and surrounding plant life; and after storms, I find interesting shells and observe new birds appearing on the beach. I feel that day after day, nature speaks of God's handiwork. Along with my love for the ocean, I have a passion for the simple flower. I am intrigued with the variety of colors, shapes and the lovely flowing edges. Oftentimes, the edge of the flower creates a sense of movement and flow in its appearance. Depending on the color, the flower can calm, excite, or inspire the viewer. My hope is for the viewer to enter into the experience. Frequently, people have shared with me that my floral paintings give them a sense of peace. My style has been most influenced by American Impressionists. I love to focus on color, and at all times keep a myriad of colors laid out on my palette. I began painting at the age of twelve and mixing colors has become second nature to me now! Throughout my art career, I have painted in most mediums. Currently, my concentration is on acrylic painting. I enjoy the fast drying time and the seemingly unlimited uses for acrylics. I have been focusing on varying my painting surface and using glazes as I attempt to create depth of color in my work. I hope my work will give you a sense of peace and joy.
